Constipation Home Remedy

The most common constipation remedy includes a daily intake of fiber and drinking plenty of water. One of the most highly concentrated forms of fiber can be found in wheat bran. Bran is more of a normalizer of bowel function rather than a laxative.

Most laxatives do their work by releasing substances which chemically irritate the bowel reflexes, producing contractions which in turn activates them.

Bran does not irritate the bowels in any way. It does its work by absorbing water and creating a gentle pressure on the lining of the colon.

Be sure to drink an adequate amount of water every day, preferably six to eight, 8 ounce glasses.

The bowels draw water out of your system in order to do their job. And fiber, as well as other natural home remedies for constipation, requires adequate amounts of water in your system to react properly.

To stay "regular" and prevent constipation, your daily intake of fiber should be around 20 to 35 grams. Whole-grains, fruits and vegetables are some of the best fiber sources. Other high-fiber foods are cooked beans, prunes, figs, raisins, popcorn, oatmeal, pears and nuts.

As you can see, the best constipation remedy can be simply involve eating the right foods.

The following foods have relatively no fiber content whatsoever:

milk
cheese
yogurt
eggs
fish
poultry
beef
pork
juices
ice cream
cookies
cakes
pies
white bread
English muffins
bagels

The following foods are very high in fiber:

beans
peas
potatoes
carrots
whole-wheat bread
brown rice
wheat germ
figs
raisins
prunes
fresh fruit
nuts
berries
sunflower seeds
pumpkin seeds
vegetables

However, if you are past the prevention stage and currently suffering from constipation, choose a constipation remedy from this list:

Walking

Probably the easiest constipation remedy is simply to take a walk. A good brisk 20 minute walk may just be all that's needed to activate the nerves and muscles of the bowels.

This tends to move food through the bowels at a faster rate.

Castor Oil

This very effective constipation remedy usually works for most people. Castor oil it is produced from the seeds of the ricinus communis plant.

Take one to 2 teaspoons on an empty stomach. You should see results in about eight hours.

Psyllium

This herbal product, produced from seeds acts in two different ways. First, it adds bulk and fiber to the digestive tract.

Psyllium itself is high in fiber and it absorbs a lot of water as it passes through the body, therefore requiring that you drink the proper amount of water while taking.

Secondly, Psyllium helps to restore the normal balance of bacteria in your intestines, which is essential for proper bowel movements.

Enemas and Suppositories

If you're really miserable and you want fast relief, probably the quickest constipation remedy would be to take an enema or suppository.

For enemas, stick with a natural saline solution. For suppositories, stick with natural glycerin. This particular constipation remedy should only be used occasionally in extreme situations.

Bad Breath Remedy

I thought I would share my bad breath story for those it might help. From my teens I started experiencing bad breath. I tried all the normal things from bushing my teeth 3 or more times a day, mouth wash and so on.

Still my breath smelled worse then that smell that is in the air when farmers are laying fresh manure. Anyone who has ever smelled that knows it stinks bad enough you want to puke. And this was coming from my mouth. So much for a teen social life.

As an adult I was always conscious of this problem. It often held me back at work and while my wife was gracious, I know it was a constant battle for her to be intimate.

The doctors just told me that I should just brush my teeth more, eat less sugary foods and accept my self. I wonder how anyone can accept having sewer mouth!?

One day someone suggested that I try taking probiotics; that it had helped them. At first I just purchased pill form at a health food store. Later I learned that foods like Japanese miso and nato were completely natural forms of probiotics. The miso was easy and I liked it from the start, but the nato took some getting used to.

Still, after a while my bad breath greatly reduced. I then learned about chewing anise seeds and found I no longer had sewer breath. I added a stainless steel tongue scraper and because these home remedies for bad breath helped me I even started making my own homemade tooth paste.

My career took off, my love life increased several folds and I no longer walked around ashamed of myself.

I can`t begin to tell you how much home remedies for bad breath have meant for me. The doctors told me to live with it, but those with knowledge of home remedies told me how to get rid of it.

Never again will I just blindly trust those who claim to be the experts.

I really like your site and see many of the home remedies for bad breath are listed on your site. I will try some of the other remedies you mention and let you know how they work.

For those who might read this and wonder if there is any hope for you... there is. Please try these wonderful home remedies for bad breath and natural remedies on this site.

Cold Sore

The goal of every cold sore treatment is to make sure that those sore and unsightly blisters are absent a lot more than they are present.
Cold sores are tiny blisters that form mostly around the nostrils and lips but sometimes also elsewhere on the face. The blisters break open and weep before they crust over and disappear.

Cause of Cold Sore

Cold sores are caused by Herpes Simplex virus, usually Herpes Simplex type1. Genital herpes is caused in 70-80% by Herpes Simplex virus type2. The virus itself lives in nerve endings. Nearly all of us carry the cold sore virus even when it's not causing symptoms. This means that millions of people are infected with the virus, but probably only a quarter of those infected have symptoms of any kind.

A rise in skin temperature - perhaps caused by fever or to much sunlight - activates the virus and they spread out from the nerve endings. That's why cold sore is often called fever blister. A local or general weakening of the immune system is needed for an outbreak.

What are the Triggers for a Herpes outbreak?

Physical or mental stress

Excessive cold or heat, including fever

Exposure to strong sunlight

Menstruation

Local skin trauma

General ill health and other infections, such as a cold
Herpes Symptoms:

A tingling sensation (itching and irritation) around the mouth heralds the sore's imminent arrival, usually within a day or two.

The skin feels oversensitive to touch.

Raised, swollen red area usually around the nostrils and lips.

Tiny blisters form on the spot.

Blisters enlarge, burst, oozes fluid and become painful ulcers after 2 or 3 days.

The ulcers crust over, form scabs. They may crack and bleed easily.

Fade away in 7 to 10 days.
As you would expect, herpes is highly contagious. There is 90% chance of catching it if a member of the family has an active blister. The virus is transmitted through skin contact, for example kissing.

Cold sore that develops near the eye is potentially dangerous and should be seen by a doctor, as soon as symptoms, such as tingling or itching, begin.

As you can see, cold sores are not only annoying they can also be dangerous, so the cold sore treatment has a great importance.

Are you a cold sore sufferer?

Do you avoid getting out in the world due to your cold sore problem?
Does you life revolve around when your next breakout will be?
Do you find yourself hiding your face when other people are around?

Home Remedy for Skin Boil

Although the skin's surface provides protection from the environment, infectious organism can enter the skin in various ways. Natural openings, such as a hair follicle or sweat gland, or broken skin at the side of an insect bite or cut may provide a gateway for bacteria.

One of the most common types of skin infection is a boil, sometimes called an abscess or a furuncle.

What is a boil?

Boil is a tender, inflamed, pus-filled lump usually severe acne or acne cysts. Learn about the causes and treatment of acne.

What causes boils?

Commonly the bacteria Staphylococci are the cause of skin boils. Nowadays, an especially aggressive type of Staphylococcus infection, Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is spreading fast all over the world. This virulent staph infection is resistant to commonly used antibiotics. MRSA often resides on skin without causing any harm, however often produces recurring boils. Skin boils caused by MRSA are even more difficult to treat.
What does a boil look like?

Boils may be small or large. They can be solitary or in a group forming a carbuncle. Multiple boils combine into a huge boil with many different heads, called carbuncle.

The boil looks like hot, red, swollen and painful lump which gradually comes to a head. The white or yellow head of a boil is pus indeed, as it forces its way upward.

Steps of boil formation:

Rounded nodule, lump appears.
Inflammation - redness, heat, swelling - with pain on contact.
Swelling of the lump, which fill up with pus.
A white spot appears in the centre (the head of the boil).
The boil can burst within 2 weeks, but it may also heal on its own, without bursting and slowly disappears. As hair follicles are so close together, bacteria can infect a wide area, causing more boils to occur. A couple of boils together form a carbuncle.

Boils on body usually appear on areas where clothing rubs against skin or where moist body parts are in constant contact: on the neck (back of the neck), under the arms (armpit boils), near the buttocks or around inner tights and groin (genital boils, vaginal boils).

Boils can be extremely painful, especially if it develops over a bony area, where the skin is stretched tight, like forehead. Pain is often throbbing and worse by touch.

Lets see now the most effective home remedies for boils:

Most Effective Home Treatment for Boils is TURMERIC

Turmeric is a traditional Ayurvedic home remedy from India, a commonly used spice (main ingredient of curry-powder), works as a natural antibiotic, anti-inflammatory, blood purifier and digestive system supporter. Turmeric taken internally, can cure boils in a few days. That means, infected boils simply disappear.
How to take turmeric internally?

Buy turmeric powder in an Indian grocery shop or Supermarket.
Mix 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder in some warm water.
Drink the mixture at once and follow with two glasses of plain water.
Drink the turmeric mixture 3 times a day, for several days.
The best is to take turmeric internally at the first sign of a boil, which may disappear overnight.
If you have recurring boils you can use turmeric for a longer time period as a preventive remedy.

CAUTION:

Turmeric can cause constipation, since it is one of the best remedy for diarrhea.
Turmeric has diuretic properties, it dehydrates your system. Drink plenty of plain water during turmeric treatment.
Turmeric is a natural blood thinner, do not take at the same time with anticoagulants.
Turmeric stimulates the secretion of bile, do not use it, if you know to have a blocked bile duct.
